The GBI and Rome Police Department have been able to use blood samples to solve a burglary case from August 2018. Reports said that Walter Marquez Kirby, 23 of Rome, was arrested this week after he was identified as the suspect in a burglary of a home on Church Street.
Reports said that Kirby stole over $500 in gaming equipment.
Investigators were able to collect blood at the scene and subsequently sent it to the GBI crime lab. The lab was able to match the sample to that of Kirby.
Kirby is charged with first degree burglary.
