Kerry Wayne Munford Sr, 59 of Rome, was arrested this week after officers said he obstructed them from entering a home while someone inside was yelling for help.
Police added that Munford proceeded to raise his hand in an attempt to strike an officer.
He then allegedly proceeded to resist being placed in handcuffs.
The incident occurred at a home on Tency Lane.
Munford is charged with simple assault, felony obstruction of an officer and willful obstruction.
