Several downtown Rome roads will be closed on Friday because of production filming of a Netflix show.

East Third Street and Fourth Avenue will be closed starting at 7 am and running to 7 pm.

East 3rd Street will be closed between East 3rd Avenue and East 5th Avenue.  East 4th Avenue will be closed between East 2nd Street and East 4th Street.

Andrew Kirk, City of Rome’s traffic/transit and public works committee is quoted to say, “We don’t think we’re going to use that closure the entire time…. The filming crew will actually come in maybe about 11 a.m. or noon and will go until about 4 or 5 p.m. At that point, we’ll start turning the neighborhood into what it originally was.”

Yards in the neighborhood will go through a transformation according to Kirk.

“Prep includes talking with the neighbors and putting different greenery in their yards.. It’s a period piece from the 1930s, so they want to make it look more 1930s-ish.”

If weather does not cooperate, filming will be moved to Saturday.

While there was no confirmation on what show is being filmed, it is said that it’s based on a movie and, play, and book that won a Pulitzer award.
