Gary Dale Parker, 43 of Cedar Bluff, was arrested in Rome after reports said he attempted to steal $609.52 worth of merchandise from Walmart in Rome
While being taken into custody, authorities said that they discovered that Parker had an active felony warrant for his arrest in Cherokee County.
Parker is charged with theft by shoplifting, failure to appear and fugitive from justice.
A second Cedar Bluff man, Patrick Haswell Williams, 42, was also arrested for his role in the theft.
He is also charged with felony shoplifting.
