A 36 year-old Rome man, identified as Phillip Steven Brand, has died as the result of a residential fire on Church Street Saturday morning.
Reports said that firefighters were dispatched to the home in North Rome around 10:43 Saturday morning.
A second person, a female, was able to escape the fire and call 911 for help.
Authorities are still investigating the exact cause of fire, but preliminary reports led them to believe that the fire was accidental.
