Jason Todd Spurling, 43 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he attempted to choke his sister to death during an altercation on Glenrise Terrace.

Reports said that the victim told police that Spurling repeatedly placed his hands around her neck to the point she thought she was going to die.

Reports added that Spurling proceeded to strike the 54 year-old woman in the face, resulting in visible injuries.

He is then accused of striking her wrist when she attempted to leave. The act results in the victim’s wrist being shattered.  Police added that the victim must have surgery as a result of the act.

The victim went on to tell authorities that when she attempted to leave the home, Spurling drug her back inside, got her cell phone, and discarded it when she attempted to call 911 for help.

She was eventually able to escape and ran to a local store where she called for help.

Spurling is charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, battery, obstruction of a person making a 911 call and probation violation.
