Levi Thomas Scherer, 41 of Rome, was jailed this week after police said he tried to discard drugs during traffic stop on SR 20 near SR 101.
Reports said that while being found in possession of a white power substance, Scherer was observed tossing items of out a passenger window. Police said that those items were later found to be syringes.
While searching Scherer, officers added that a white powder substance was discovered on the brush guard of the patrol car near the suspect’s pants.
Scherer is charged with possession of a schedule I controlled substance, tampering with evidence and two counts failure to appear.
