Rome City Commissioners honored Pfc. Chris Ridling as its officer of the year on Monday.

Ridling was honored for his role in response to a call of a possible overdose on Rudy Street back in December 2022.

Reports said that Ridling arrived on the scene to people screaming and to a victim that had no pulse. Ridling then activated his AED and began chest compressions until EMS and fire arrived.  His actions helped lead to the revival of the man.

Ridling has worked with the RPD since 2004.
