Just after lunch on Tuesday, an armed robbery in progress was reported at a local business on West Belmont Street in Calhoun. Calhoun police officers were dispatched along with deputy sheriffs to the scene.

The police arrived on scene within 5 minutes and observed the suspect fleeing on foot.

The police officers pursued him for a short distance before apprehending him in a wooded area nearby. The firearm is believed to have been used in the robbery and the stolen money was recovered.

The suspect was identified as one Taizion S. Vinson, age 22, of Cleveland, Tennessee, who is now in jail facing charges of Armed Robbery and other offenses. Sheriff’s detectives are continuing the investigation.

No one is believed to have been injured in the incident. Sheriff Ralston praised the quick response and actions of the Calhoun officers in rapidly capturing the defendant in this incident.
