Cedric Antonio Jones, 39 of Rome, was arrested this week after police said they attacked them while conducting a traffic stop on South Broad Street.
Reports said that Jones was pulled over after they observed him not wearing a seat belt. Officers added that Jones 8 year-old child was found improperly exchanged in the front seat.
While being questioned, Jones allegedly gave a fake name and date of birth to police. After being asked to step out of his car, Jones turned and hit the officer while trying to flee the scene.
A search then led police to fin d1706 grams of meth and under an ounce of marijuana inside his pants.
Jones is charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of meth with intent to distribute, felony obstruction, possession of marijuana, giving false information to police and a set belt requirement violation.
