Melvin Dewayne Ragland Jr, 39 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he was found with multiple types of drugs that were packaged in separate baggies for resale purposes during the execution of a search warrant at 2761 Shorter Avenue.

Reports said that officers found multiple bags of marijuana, Xanax, mushrooms, and a Taurus 9mm handgun.

Police added that the gun had been reported stolen.

Ragland is charged with possession of a schedule I controlled substance, possession of a schedule I controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of a schedule IV controlled substance, possession of a schedule IV controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of drug related objects, two counts possession/distribution of marijuana, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, theft by receiving stolen property, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and seven counts contempt of superior court.
