A Floyd County Sheriff’s Deputy, Simon Edward Worrell, 54 of Lindale, has been fired after he was arrested on child cruelty charges.

Reports said that a minor child living inside the home that was “unfit for human habitation”. Police said that the home was filled with animal urine and feces to the extent it caused pain to the officer’s eyes and lungs when entering.  The residence was found covered in dirt, debris and animal feces on the counters where food was located.

Reports added that the child was sent to school covered in animal feces and urine.  The child reportedly had to be removed from class due to their smell.

Reports added that a dog was also found at the home in serious need of medical care. Police went on to say that the dog was found in “physical pain and disfigurement”.

Worell is charged with aggravated cruelty to animals, cruelty to children in the first degree and deprivation of a minor.

His wife, Kimberly Worrell, 51, was also arrested on the same charges.
