Malachi Alexander Williams, 19 of Summerville, was arrested in Rome after police said he reached for a gun while they were questioning him at a location on Calhoun Road.
Reports said that officers began questioning Williams when they smelled marijuana in a public place. It was then officers said Williams reached for a firearm which was concealed.
Williams then began walking away while continuing to reach for his gun, placing the officer in fear of his safety.
After taking Williams into custody, he was allegedly found with two bags of marijuana, packaging materials and cash.
Williams is charged with two counts possession/distribution of marijuana, possession of a gun during the commission of a crime, criminal attempt to commit a felony, obstruction and failure to appear.
