Christopher Leigh Astin, 38 of Rome, was arrested this week for a string of crimes that occurred earlier this year.

Between July 1 and 16, 2022, Astin allegedly broke into a home on Flannery Street and stole an Amazon Echo, and then removed a catalytic converter from a 2010 Chevrolet HHR. The total amount of items stolen were valued at over $515.

Police added that on September 14, 2020, the execution of a search warrant at a home on Azalea Street led police to find 28 grams of suspected methamphetamine, syringes, digital scales, a broken glass pipe, and Meloxicam.

Astin is also accused of removing the serial number from a chainsaw.

Astin is charged with and first degree burglary, two counts theft by taking, possession of methamphetamine, possession of meth with intent to distribute, trafficking methamphetamine, possession of drug related objects, sale of dangerous drugs, criminal use of an article with an altered identification mark, 2nd degree criminal damage to property, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, and failure to appear.
