Floyd County Police arrested Jon Michael Nicholson, 44, and Paige Nicole Nicholson, 34, at their home on Old Summerville Road were arrested this week after reports said they allowed their child to attend school covered in animal feces.
Police said that the child was dismissed from class due to their strong odor.
Officers said that when they went to the home, they found that the child, as well as another, was living in extreme filth with the floor to the home caving in.
An animal was also found in the home that was denied veterinary care.
Both are charged with two counts cruelty to children in the 2nd degree, two counts contribution to the deprivation of a child resulting in serious injury or death and cruelty to animals.
