Matthew Blake Gilmore, 33 of Silver Creek, was arrested this week after police said he nearly caused an accident while driving in the center lane of GA 20 near Huffaker Road.
Police said that Gilmore was traveling at a high rate of speed when he swerved and caused a collision with another vehicle.
Reports added that Gilmore was smoking marijuana at the time of the accident.
While investigating, police said that Gilmore threw the marijuana cigarette on the side of the roadway. A search of the vehicle then resulted in officers finding additional marijuana, a grinder and a glass smoking device.
Gilmore is charged with DUI, abandonment of dangerous drugs, possession of drug related objects, possession of marijuana, too fast for conditions and driving in the central lane.
