Grady Walter Carroll, 47 of Rome, was arrested this week after police said he lied to him about reporting his car had been stolen.
Police said that Carroll told authorities that his 1995 Mitsubishi Mirage had been stolen.
Investigators later discovered that he had sold the car to another person.
Officers went to say that when they went to arrest Carroll this week, he attempted to elude them by slamming the door on them.
Carroll is charged with false report of a crime, obstruction and probation violation.
