April Ashley Nicole Simpson, 34 of Adairsville, was arrested in Rome this week for her role in conspiring to stage an automobile accident in order to claim insurance money.
Reports said that Simpson was part of a group that rented a U-Haul truck on September 18, 2021 and then set up an accident on Maple Avenue near East 14th Street.
Police said that John Watkins rented the truck and worked with Marshall Alexandria to have the accident. Reports added that the wreck caused the Uhaul truck to hit a Georgia Power poll. When questioned at the scene, statements were made that April Simpson was the driver of the U-haul truck. It was later discovered that John Watkins was the driver. Marilyn White the accused passenger with Alexandria claimed injuries on the scene.
Simpson is charged with insurance fraud.
