CVN has learned that just prior to Tuesday’s Rome City Schools Board Meeting the traffic citation that was featured over the weekend was paid by Eric Holland after over two years.
The $500 ticket, which list Rome City Schools attorney Chris Twyman, has been sitting for over two years not paid and with a court date of last July.
An earlier traffic citation for violating Ga’s hand free law was dropped.
Attached is the traffic citation that was received through an open records request.
previous.
With all the attention Rome City Schools have received over the past few weeks, a reader sent police footage of a traffic stop involving potentional Rome City School Superintendent Eric Holland.
The footage is from a traffic stop dated May 14, 2020. During the stop, Holland became argumentative with officers stating that they targeted him because of who he was. He went on to argue with the officers about the reason they pulled him over was a lie. Holland also told the officer that he would call Rome City Police Chief Denise Downer-McKinney on the officers because the last time he got a ticket from them he didn’t have to pay it.
Holland went to get the officer’s badge numbers while again saying that he was going to call Rome City Police Chief Denise Downer-McKinney on them.
We have sent an open records request to RPD to find out if the ticket that was given in the video was removed from the record.
We ask the readers to watch the video and make their own determination about the conduct of Dr. Holland during the police stop.
Coosa Valley News has also received other reports of possible misconduct of Eric Holland while serving as principal of Rome City Schools which we are also currently investigating.
