Sheldon Veronteshon Whatley, 43 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he led police on a chase with a 10 year-old child in his vehicle.

Officers said that Whatley was clocked at driving 77 mph in a 55 mph zone near Old Summerville and Scenic Roads.

Police went on to say that Whatley initially failed to stop for officers despite them running blue lights and sirens.  After eventually pulling over, police said that they discovered that Whatley was driving on a suspended license.  They went on to say that Whatley was also found to be driving under the influence of alcohol.

Whatley is charged with DUI, endangering a child by DUI, speeding, fleeing from police, driving on a suspended license and probation violation.
