Philip Grady Wigley, 43 of Adairsville, was arrested this week after reports said he held a woman against her will while beating her.
Police said that Wigley refused to allow the woman to leave a home on Barbara Lane before he began to punch her in the face and mouth.
The victim suffered visible injuries to both.
Wigley is charged with aggravated battery and false imprisonment.
