James Dean Thompson, 32 of Cedar Bluff, was arrested in Rome after reports said that a traffic stop on SR 1 near Burnett Ferry Road resulted in police finding marijuana.
Reports stated that officers pulled Thompson over for speeding. While speaking with Thompson, officers said that they detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.
A search then resulted in them locating a plastic bag that contained the drug.
Thompson is charged with possession of marijuana and speeding.
