A 31 year-old homeless Rome man, Devin Darrell Burdette Sr, was arrested this week after reports said he stole from an ATM machine.
Reports said that Burdette made a fraudulent ATM deposit into his checking account from the same account, while knowing there was insufficient funds to support the check. Police stated that he knew that this would cause the ATM to show an account balance that would not be correct. Burdette then reportedly withdrew money, leaving the account with a negative balance of $480.
Burdette is charged with theft by deception.
