Two Polk School District special educator teachers, Camela Carter Mears, 49, of Cedartown, and Mary E. Seyler, 49, of Dallas, were arrested and terminated this week for two separate incidents involving students.

Mears was a special education teacher at Van Wert Elementary School, while Seyler was a special education teacher at Cedartown High School.

A statement from PSD, “The Polk School District generally does not comment on specific personnel matters,”.

Police Chief Michael McGee declined any comment on what the two women did.

The Board voted on Tuesday to terminate the employees, but the women have been placed on paid administrative leave until the investigation is complete.

Mears is charged with reckless conduct and battery.

Seyler is charged with reckless conduct and simple battery.
