An investigation is ongoing after 41 year-old Alexis Trachelle Pendleton Lloyd was killed in a single-vehicle accident last week on Pleasant Hope Road.

According to reports, Lloyd was a passenger in a northbound 2005 Nissan 350Z.  Officers said that as the driver, James K. McDonald, 44 of Rome, approached a curve near 734 Pleasant Hope Road he lost control. It was then the car went into a spin and went up an embankment before the passenger side hit a tree.

Officers added that Lloyd was not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected. Reports went on to say that Lloyd was pinned between the door of the car and the seat.

Police added that it appeared that speed was a factor in the wreck.  The driver told police that he had been driving between 35 and 40 mph before hitting some loose gravel in the road.  He also allegedly admitted to smoking marijuana earlier in the day.

Floyd County Coroner Gene Proctor said that her body was sent to the GBI crime lab for an autopsy because of the ensuing investigation.
