Stuart Morse, a Cedartown High School coach, continues to improve following an accident that saw him get hit in the head with a track discus Tuesday afternoon.

Morse, who was painting a field for a soccer match was struck in the head by the discus and had to be airlifted to Kennestone Hospital where he underwent surgery.

On Thursday morning, his wife posted that he,”Got up, walked some, followed a few commands, answered verbally a few questions, ate and drank some. Got orders to be moved into the MICU. Still confused on some things but making so many good improvements today.”

Superintendent Dr. Katie Thomas said, “Polk School District collectively joins together to support Coach Stuart Morse and his family as he recuperates from yesterday’s tragic accident,” she added in a statement. “He is a dedicated and valued member of our team and we wish him nothing less than a full recovery.”

Morse teaches seventh-grade math teacher at Cedartown Middle School and is head boys soccer coach.
