Michael Tyrone Fields, 54 of Rome, was arrested this week after police said he led them on a foot chase following shoplifting from the Dollar General.
Reports stated that Fields stole an unspecified amount if items from the store at Central Plaza.
After the chase, Fields proceeded to lie to officers about his name and date of birth.
Fields is charged with theft by shoplifting obstruction, giving false information to police and probation violation.
