Mark Vanburen Duvall, 50 of Rome, was arrested at the Dollar General on North Broad Street after reports said he attempted to use a counterfeit $20 bill.
Police said that Duvall attempted to cash the fake bill for smaller bills.
Duvall is charged with first degree forgery.
