Two Gainesville residents, Nora Gulch Ellis, 68, and Lucas Ryan Knott, 39, were jailed in Rome after they conspired to sneak 135.59 grams of marijuana and 907.19 grams of tobacco into the Floyd County Prison.

Reports said that the couple placed the items into a carboard recycling bin at the Rome Floyd Recycling Center for a work detail inmate to pick up.

Police added that the center is less than 500 feet from West Central Elementary School.

Both are charged with items prohibited by an inmate, possession/distribution of marijuana, and possession/distribution of a controlled substance near a school.

Knott is additionally charged with use of a communication device to facilitate a felony.
