Floyd County Police have been conducting a child sex sting over the past week, which resulted in the arrest of numerous others late this week, one of which was Jeremy Alan Bowman, 44 of Summerville, a second grade teacher for Chattooga County Schools.
According to reports, Bowman engaged in graphic written conversations describing sex acts to a male he thought to be under the age of 16 years.
Police added that a location was arranged to where Bowman was to meet the child and engage in sodomy. He was taken into custody at that location.
Bowman is charged with sexual exploitation of a child, obscene internet contact with a child and criminal attempt to commit a felony.
Earlier in the week police arrested: Jimmy Wade Bowen, 46, who works as a general laborer, was charged with two counts of felony sexually explicit conduct with a minor, obscene internet contact with minor, two counts of electronically furnishing obscene material to minors and criminal attempt to commit a felony.
Jeovani Tomes Ortega, 31, of Tucker, who works in construction, was charged with felony criminal attempt to commit a felony and obscene internet contact with a child.
Jeff Eugene White, 27, of Conyers, who works in construction, was charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of children, obscene internet contact with a child, electronically furnishing obscene material to minors, felony aggravated assault on a police office, interference with government property, obstruction and several traffic related offenses including driving too fast for conditions and laying drag. White attempted to flee and avoid being arrested for his actions, he struck a Floyd County police car.
Norman Keith Eli Gentry, 31, was arrested and charged with felony criminal attempt of aggravated child molestation as well as possession of marijuana, possession of drug related objects and obscene internet contact with a child.
Adam Dewayne Broadrick, 40 of Trion, was jailed for obscene internet contact with a child, sexual exploitation of a child, obstruction and criminal attempt to commit a felony.
Floyd County Police said,” The goal of Operation Safe Christmas was to arrest persons who communicate with children online and then travel to meet them for the purpose of having sex.” “Online child predators visit chat rooms and websites on the internet, find children, begin conversations with them, introduce sexual content and arrange a meeting with the children for the purpose of committing sexual acts with children under the age of 16. The children these predators target are both boys and girls.”
Police added, “During the multi-day operation, investigators had more than 200 exchanges with men on various social media or internet platforms. Many of those were exchanges in which the subject initiated contact with whom they believed to be a minor and directed the conversation towards sex.”
