Carrie Ann Vega, 30 of Rome, was arrested this week after police said she lied to them about an active investigation and attempted to hinder the arrest of her boyfriend Cory Jose July.
Police said that when they questioned Vega about her car being involved in a pursuit she told them that it had been stolen. However, records show that the suspect who was driving the car, July, was her boyfriend and that they had been in constant contact.
Vega also told police that they had been “broke up for weeks” and that “they never speak”. However, a search warrant of phone records show that they had not only been in contact prior to the investigation, but also minutes before and after police spoke with her.
Vega is charged with false report of a crime, false statement and writings and hindering the apprehension of a criminal.
