Walter Malik Fields, 28 of Daytona, Florida, was arrested this week in Rome after reports said he was seen attacking a woman on Maple Road.
Reports said that during a dispute with the victim, Fields grabbed her by the throat before shoving and hitting her.
Police added that a witness observed the attack.
Fields is charged with simple battery.
