According to the Georgia State Patrol, 23 year-old Shelby Dowdy was killed on Monday when her 2020 Toyota Corolla was struck by a tractor trailer on Highway 156 in Armuchee.
Reports said that Dowdy was traveling south on Floyd Springs Road when she, according to a witness, failed to stop at the stop sign of Highway 156 and was struck by the tractor trailer around 8 am.
GSP investigators added that after impact, Dowdy’s Toyota rotated clockwise and left the roadway.
The tractor-trailer also left the roadway and struck a large ditch, which caused the truck to roll onto its passenger’s side.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, 51-year old Kenneth Craig of LaFayette was injured and transported to Floyd Medical Center.
