Candy Marie Coxaj, 38 of Rome, was arrested this week after police said she lied to authorities about being robbed at gunpoint while she was working at the Moonlight Restaurant on Redmond Circle back in November.
Reports stated that Coxaj told authorities that someone came into the store and passed a note to her about the robbery while waving a semiautomatic handgun.
However, video surveillance stated that the “suspect” never passed a note and never possessed a gun. It also showed $3,000 being taken from the register by Coxaj.
In late December while at the Coosa Food and Beverage she gave police false statements about the robbery.
Coxaj is charged with felony theft by taking, false statements and writings, and obstruction.
