Brandon Hunter Chapman, 34 of Rome, was jailed this week after reports said he slapped a telephone out of the hand of a 33 year-old woman while she was attempting to dial 911 for help.
Reports went on to say that Chapman proceeded to shove the woman out the front door.
The altercation occurred in front of an infant.
Chapman is charged with battery, obstruction of a person making a 911 call and cruelty to children in the third degree.
