Jimmy Lee Ashworth, 37 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports stated he hit a Floyd County Deputy in the face while they were attempting to take him into custody.

Reports said that deputies were severing an arrest warrant when Ashworth ran in an effort to avoid capture.  He was found in a nearby wooded area.  It was then Ashworth began to act violent and hit the deputy in the face.

The incident occurred at the dead end of Old Airport Road.

Ashworth is charged with simple battery against a police officer, felony obstruction, obstruction and terroristic threats and acts.
