Christopher D Mims, 26 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he hit and kicked his girlfriend in the face while placing a knife to her throat.
The victim reportedly was left with marks on her neck.
Reports added that Mims then attempted to run from police in an attempted to avoid arrest. During the chase Mims went at high rates of speed, which placed others in danger.
The chase ended when Mims hit a median and wrecked into a metal guide wire.
Mims is charged with aggravated assault, battery, simple battery, attempting to elude, striking a fixed object, failure to maintain lane, possession of a knife during the commission of a crime and reckless driving.
