A homeless 67 year-old Rome man, Carlton David Jefts, was arrested this week after reports said he was found in possession of methamphetamine and a silver 9mm handgun.
Reports said that the gun was located inside a cooler in the accused’s tent.
Jefts also told police a fake name and date of birth upon being questioned.
Jefts is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of meth and giving false information to police.
