Stephen Lamar Cannon, 50 of Rome, was arrested at a home on Old Cave Spring Road after he stated that he was going to hit a woman before throwing a soda can in her direction.
The victim told police that she was placed in fear of her safety.
Cannon is charged with simple assault.
