Russell Dean Dixon, 54 of Rome, was arrested this week after police said he attempted to stab a 57 year-old man to death.
Reports said that the victim was stabbed by a knife in his side.
The victim was transported to a local hospital with what authorities called life threatening injuries.
The incident occurred a location on Watson Street.
Dixon is charged with aggravated assault and probation violation.
