Kimberly Dawn Nelson, 36 of Rome, and Christopher Michael Nelson, 32 of Rome, were arrested after reports said one of their children missed 10 unexcused days and another child missed 13 unexcused days of school.

Authoritities stated that the couple signed a truancy agreement, but failed to honor the commitments. Since signing the agreement, one child has missed 2 additional days, while the other 3 days.

Reports added that one child was a student at Pepperell Primary, and the other a student at McHenry School.

Deputies said that while being taken into custody Nelson had to be forcibly taken into handcuffs due to her resisting officers.

Both are charged with mandatory education of a child.

Nelson is additionally charged with obstruction of law enforcement.
