Gavin Edwards, 57 of Rome, was arrested this week ater reports said he started an altercation with an off-duty deputy at Jefferson’s on Broad Street in downtown Rome.

Reports said that Edwards “got into the officers face and asked him if he had something to say”.

Reports added that the deputy told Edwards that he was an off-duty officer and “instructed him to go sit and enjoy his food’.

However, reports continued to state that Edwards got into the deputies face three additional times.

A patron then recognized Edwards and stepped in to restrain him, giving the deputy time to leave the restaurant.

The deputy then notified authorities stating that he believed he may be violently harmed by Edwards.
