Bartow County deputies were recently dispatched to a residence on Pecan Lane in Acworth in reference to a domestic problem in progress.

Upon arrival, the deputy met with an alleged victim who said she was in a verbal argument with her husband (Jackie Girton). Jackie got mad, stating he was leaving and was going to take their child with him.

He went next door to his mother-in-law’s residence where the child was. He got into an argument with her and she started yelling for her daughter to come outside. The mother-in-law locked the door so Jackie could not get in.

He allegedly took a four-way tire changing tool and hit the door multiple times, damaging it.

Jackie then allegedly got his handgun and pointed it at his mother-in-law, demanding she give him the child. He made several statements about his family being known for killing people while pointing the gun.

His wife was able to get the gun from him and threw it in the yard. Jackie also allegedly hit his wife and grabbed her arm, leaving a dark bruise. Jackie left a short time later when 911 was called.

The mother-in-law corroborated the story, adding that Jackie pushed his wife to the ground.

The deputy did see damage to the camper door where the metal was bent and had dents on it. The four-way tire tool was lying in the grass. The suspect’s wife had a large bruise on her upper right arm.
