A Rome man is awaiting extradition for the murder of a Calhoun man over the weekend.  Justin Blake Maritinat, 29, was sought for the shooting of a man at a home on Sylvania Circle on Saturday.

Reports said that Gordon County deputies arrived and discovered the body of a local man dead from apparent gunshot wounds. A number of shots were fired and other persons were assaulted. Detectives and crime scene personnel have been on the scene for several hours collecting physical evidence, and a number of witnesses have been detained and questioned.

The suspect, who will be identified later, fled the scene in an automobile and was apprehended by law enforcement officers in eastern Alabama at about 9:45 a.m. No one else is being sought in connection with this incident.

The investigation is still underway and additional details will be made available as rapidly as possible.

A warrant has been issued for JUSTIN BLAKE MARTINAT, age 29, of a Floyd County,Georgia address, charging him with Murder. MARTINAT is being held in Alabama pending extradition proceedings.
