Authorities have arrested Tony Eugene Barron, of Carterville, for the homicide of a man on a motorcycle that occurred earlier this month.

Reports said that 34-year-old Russell Steven Carr was driving his motorcycle south on Rolling Hills Drive. At around 5:55 am when Barron back a pickup truck out of a private driveway when he struck Carr.

Authorities stated that the manner of collision was a sideswipe between the ten o’clock position (or front left) of the motorcycle and the two o’clock position (or front right) of the truck. After impact at the dark driveway intersection, Barron left the scene of the crash, traveling south. Carr was taken to Kennestone Hospital by Metro EMS, where he later died.

A mailbox from the private driveway was struck during the collision, but the property owner declined a report and stated he would fix it himself.

The area of impact was determined by witness statements and video evidence recorded from a residence.

Barron was booked into the Bartow County Jail this week on charges of homicide by vehicle, failure to report an accident resulting in death, hit and run, knowingly driving a motor vehicle when the vehicle registration is suspended, canceled, or revoked, failure to comply with insurance requirements for operation of a motor vehicle, driving while license is suspended or revoked, and felony violation of probation.
