James Maritin Thompson, 19 of Rockmart, was jailed in Rome this week after police said he hit a 47 year-old man in the head.
Reports said that Thompson repeatedly hit the man in the head causing swelling and major disfigurement.
The incident occurred in front of a 2 year-old child and occurred at the victim’s home on Strand Street.
Thompson is charged with battery and cruelty to children
