Last Friday, Rome defeated Marietta by a score of 51-41 during the Cory Kell Classic season opener for both teams. This big win for Rome has led to a boost in recognition on the state and national level.

USA Today has published their poll ranking top programs in the regions of the U.S., as well as a national poll that ranks all varsity teams nationwide. Regions are broken down into East, Southeast, Midwest, Southwest and West.

Marietta, ranked 16th in USA Today’s national poll before falling to Rome and the Blue Devils have dropped out of the top 25 nationally, but still remain 10th in the Southeast regional poll. Rome, however, has taken the six-spot in the Southeast Region that includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, and South Carolina. In USA Today’s national poll the Wolves have landed in the top 25 with the 24th spot.
