A janitor at Van Wert Elementary School in Polk County was jailed over the weekend after police said they found drugs and a gun in her car on school property.

Georgia Lynn Cook, 49, was arrested Saturday after a drug dog alerted them to her car, inside police found meth, marijuana and a gun.

She is charged with possession of methamphetamine, possess/manufacture/distribute controlled substance or marijuana within 1,000 feet of schools, and possession of firearm or knife during commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies.

Polk School District released the following statement, “The individual involved was not a Polk School District Employee, but an employee of a contacted vendor. This individual will no longer be allowed at any of the schools, nor will they have access to any school property.”
