Devunta Jamar Wood, 25 of Rome, was arrested this week after police said he robbed a woman and then burglarized a nearby business.

Reports said that on June 27th Wood pushed a woman in the parking lot of Subway on Turner McCall Blvd before fighting her and then stealing her purse.

Police went on to say that Wood then entered Suntan City, in the same shopping center, and proceded into a restricted area and stole a pocket book. The victim told police that her purse contained a Macbook Laptop, an iPhone 10, and numerous other items totaling $2,000 in value.

After locating Wood at a location on Hardy Ave he attempted to flee the scene in an attempt to escape.  He was later found hiding in a tree, where he again attempted to flee.

Wood is charged with robbery, battery, burglary, theft by taking and obstruction of law enforcement.
