William Roy Massey, 44 of West Point, was arrested in Floyd County after he allegedly ran from police while attempting to conduct a traffic stop on First Street and Ave C.
In the process he crashed into two fences and came close to striking the officer.
Reports added that the officer had to jump out of the way so that he would not be hit.
Massey is charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, attempting to elude police, hit and run and stop sign violation.
